Prologue - "Mirror, Mirror, on the wall..."

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Grim Valley...

There was an evil queen, who lived alone, in an enormous castle.

The Queen's name was Anastasia Grim, and she was feared throughout all of Grim Valley.

One afternoon, there was a strange knock on Anastasia's door...

But when she went to answer it, she saw nothing but a mirror.

Confused and intrigued, Anastasia moved the mirror into her bedroom, and she began to stare at it. Peering into the mirror, past her relfection, searching for something...

"My Queen... Is it really you?" Anastasia jumped on the inside, but outside her body remained completely still. She simply nodded, not knowing what she was doing. "Splendid. I, The Mirror, am here to answer your most curious of thoughts. I am here to tell you everything you want to know." Anastasia's eyes widened, she yearned for him to go on, she wanted to hear him speak. "What questions do you have for me, My Queen? Ask when you are ready."

Anastasia thought for a moment... What have I always wanted to know? What thought provokes every fibre of my being? What question keeps me up 'til the latest hours of the night? Her gaze suddenly shot towards the mirror, her crooked lips formed each and every word clearly: "Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"

The Mirror grinned, "My answer that I give is true, the fairest of them all is you." The Queen smiled with delight, this mirror was proof that she was the most beautiful in all of the land.

Years and years past, and The Queen continued to ask the same question: "Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" And she continued to receive the same answer: "My answer that I give is true, the fairest of them all is you." This made The Queen so happy, every time she heard it, she was filled with a new sense of pride.

One evening, she'd just finished her night time bath, and was heading off to bed. Before she got herself tucked in she walked up to The Mirror, as she had for the past several years, to ask her question. "Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" She asked, anticipating the sound of his usual answer.

"You are quite fair, My Queen, it's true, but Snow White is fairer than you." The Mirror responded, smiling nervously at The Queen.

Anastasia's expression turned to one of disgust, "Who is this Snow White! Show me!" She demanded.

The man in the mirror faded out, and in faded a frightened girl with hair black as night, and skin white as snow.

The very next day The Queen was working away, brewing two special potions, both to fix her problems.

When they were finished, she picked up one, and gulped it down. She placed the glass on the table and her body began to shake, it seemed as though she was hot clay...

She looked down at her old, wrinkly hands. "Yes!" She cheered, followed by an evil laugh. I will be the fairest once more in no time! She thought.

Anastasia traved the forests of Grim Valley, searching far and wide, until she finally found the girl she was looking for...

Snow White sang and danced with the animals of the forest, they loved to hear her beautiful voice, and see her beautiful face. She was the pure image of beauty, yet she had such a refreshing innocence to herself, you couldn't help but be drawn to her. She heard a sudden crack come from the trees, "Who's there?" She called out.

"Fear not, young girl. 'Tis simply an old woman, who wishes for nothing but to share her apples with you." Anastasia flashed Snow White a shiny red apple, flaunting it in front of her face.

Snow White took the apple from the old woman, smiling thankfully. "Thank you." Her sweet voice sang out. Her bright blue eyes turned towards the apple, widening with anticipation.

She opened her mouth wide and chomped down on the glorious apple gracefully, savouring every delicious bite. After a few bites, an unbearably disgusting taste formed in Snow White's mouth. She tried to smile and be polite, but it was too much. She spit out the apple and looked at the old woman, who to Snow's surprise, was smiling. "Wh- Wh- Why are you-"

But before she could finish she fell to the ground, and her eyes faded shut.
